We all love First Friday (www.firstfriday-lasvegas.org) But now you can ~  Get Your Green On and Celebrate Earth Day with a Free Bicycle Ride Tour of Downtown Las Vegas and First Friday
Friday, April 6 at 6 p.m.

Who: The city of Las Vegas, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) and First Friday celebrate Earth Day by hosting a free Get Your Green On bike ride tour of downtown Las Vegas and First Friday

What: Dust off your bike and get ready to pedal your way through downtown Las Vegas visiting the Smith Center for the Performing Arts and Symphony Park, the new Las Vegas City Hall, Molasky Corporate Center, The Mob Museum, Faciliteq, the RTC Bike Center and First Friday’s Arts District. You will learn more about downtown Las Vegas and how the city is getting its green on.

This social bicycle ride is open to cyclists of all ages and skill levels. Come dressed to impress with your favorite green costume and you will be entered to win our costume contest. There will be free giveaways and complimentary bike valet.

When: Friday, April 6 at 6 p.m. Tour will depart at 6:15 p.m.

Where: The tour will start at the RTC parking lot, 600 S. Grand Central Parkway.

The Solar Festival now has a name — Solarbration!  Minga Dagucon was the smart solar enthusiast who submitted that name and will receive a reward as well as all the credit for coming up with a great name.  Plan to attend the first Solarbration on June 21st at the City of Henderson Events Center on Water Street from 4:30 to 9:30 PM.

A special THANK YOU to the Royal House for presenting the Pastel Project which was a weekend festival of music, art, food and SUSTAINABLE LIVING!  It was a fabulous way to welcome spring to the Las Vegas Valley.  Ryan Pardey did an outstanding job of bringing a new festival to life with a sustainable twist!  Next year will be even better!  Thank you Ryan and add solar next year!

UNLV has been selected as one of only twenty teams to compete in the 2013 Solar Decathlon, an international competition to design and build an approximately 800 square foot home that will aim to be net zero energy.

The home will be constructed and tested at the 2013 Solar Decathlon competition at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, CA.  The design integrates sustainability into the built environment and incorporates all of the high-tech opportunities (smart walls, smart ECS interfaces, solar thermal, PV, etc.) without focusing the design solely on these systems.

1 Sun Solar is joining the Conservation District of Southern Nevada, the City of Henderson, the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Commission and Caesar’s Entertainment and invites the community to attend the first local Solar Festival, which will be held Thursday, June 21st, 2012 at the Henderson Events Center on Water Street from 4:30 – 9:30 PM.  The purpose of the festival is to learn about sustainable energy options here in our valley and celebrate the abundant solar energy resources our valley is blessed with.

The Solar Festival will be the first time the community will have the opportunity to enjoy solar-powered art, live music, food, and fun.  Plus there will be solar demonstrations, and the latest information on sustainable energy.

We promise to deliver a fun family event that will be a one-stop location for everything related to going solar. We will have all the latest information regarding energy rebates, tax credits, solar financing, and lots of hands-on activities for all ages of young people.

Great news for everyone waiting for an electric car! Mitsubishi i car will be here soon and after incentives the cost can be less than $19,750. The charging stations that these cars require are being installed in several solar powered shade canopies. We will soon have more information on these fabulous electric cars and their charging stations.
